HELENA, MT

A very pleasant evening. Almost no bugs, which is amazing.

We watered up and hit the trail. We have not seen bear scat in 3 days, which is kinda good. What we also haven’t seen at times is trail or signs of it. It is really easy to get lost. We had some big climbs today where the trail disappears at the top.

We really haven’t experienced intense heat. At our elevation out in the woods it has been rather pleasant, and we are getting cool breezes

My SPOT device is off because the batteries are dead. I have been trying to get the required titanium batteries but recent towns have none. Hopefully Helena will have them.

We got to McDonald Pass and tried thumbing for about a half hour. Nobody even slowed down. I am sure my haggard condition and unfortunate countenance did not appeal to drivers. We called the hotel and they had someone bring us in.

Pizza, beer, frozen yogurt, and other delights were enjoyed. HeHo, good to be in town.
