BEAVERHEAD NATIONAL FOREST
The morning began with a little rain falling on my tent, but it gave way to blue and sunny sky most of the day. There were some big climbs but more really nice scenery. I passed by many lakes, and finally had to stop at Rock Island Lake for a swim. It was silty and shallow but the water was really nice. It felt great.
I had an early dinner as the skies again darkened and gave a brief but significant hail and rain dump, followed by a swarm of mosquitos. I love eating with a headnet on.
The trail flattened out nicely in the evening. After 28 miles today I setup camp at the base of a long but gentle 10 mile climb tomorrow.
