LEADORE, ID
35 degF? In July?
That’s how I awoke this morning. I decided to cook my oatmeal this time
With my puffy jacket on I descended the gentle 5 miles to Bannock Pass under bright sunshine. I got there early enough to look for an old train tunnel mentioned by “tedhanson” on the CDT Hiker app, but after searching around I couldn’t find it. I relaxed at the pass under sunny warmth with a snack.
Since leaving Darby I have not seen a single human. At the pass, the road is mostly vacant. Very few cars passed by as I sat there.
Then Sam showed up early. He is the owner of the Leadore Inn and a great guy. I have a great room a short walking distance from the restaurant and the store. I literally mean there is one restaurant and store. This is a small town, but I like it. I had a lunch, resupplied, watched the Pirates lose, and had Moose Drool at the bar.
A good day, and I will rest up tomorrow
