HEART LAKE, YELLOWSTONE
I left camp spot 8M2 in a bit of a light rain. The rain continued through the morning as I encountered a stream crossing at Shoshone Lake.
By noon it had brightened considerably, and I had a nice lunch near the Heart Lake trailhead. When I got to Heart Lake it was warm and sunny, and the beach was fantastic. I took everything out of my pockets .. except I forgot my earbuds were still in there. Fortunately, they still work. I took a fully clothed plunge in the very nice lake water and it didn’t take too long to dry.
By the time I got to my camp site 8J3 the skies had darkened. I got my tent up before it started sprinkling. I love beating the elements!
I want to see if I can make big miles the next 2 days to Dubois. Tomorrow I will say goodbye to Yellowstone.
