CIRQUE OF TOWERS, WY
After leaving camp I ran into Whistle and Sleepwalker. We got into the Cirque of Towers route, and they were much faster than I (of course). A little later a guy named Will joined in and he kept up with the other two. I caught up to them on the ascent of Texas Pass. Wow, what a climb! Knapsack Col was tougher and scarier, but this was no picnic.
Next was Jackass Pass, which wasn’t nearly as big but still a significant climb.
Then I kinda got lost. The others were too far ahead to see, and I got turned around so I was going back in a circle. I was able to notice this before I went way far off, but it cost me some time and effort.
The last climb was between Temple Peak and East Temple Peak. At this point I was ahead of the others so I kinda blazed the trail. By the time I got to the top Whistle and Sleepwalker passed me.
With all the climbs done, I watered up from glacial lake water and hunted for a camp spot. It took a while to find a spot, but I eventually settled for a spot and gave into exhaustion.
The big climbs are over until I get close to Colorado. HeHo!
