North of SNOW LAKE, NM

I awoke to frozen shoes

My soaked shoes turned into blocks of wood at 22 degrees F. I had to put part of my feet in them (as far as they could fit) to thaw them. It was a painfully cold start to the day.

Fortunately, Race was camped with me. We got a little trail magic from other campers at Snow Lake and hit the trail.

We took a few wrong turns but ended up in the right place by lunch. As we enjoyed our siesta under a tree, BearClaw and She-Ra came along and joined us.

The four of us continued on the mostly flat forest roads, but Race had an ankle issue and we took a break. Along came a forest service truck that took Race into Reserve to have his ankle looked at. That truck had perfect timing.

The three of us continued on and cowboy camped for dinner. It is good to hitch along with others to help navigate. A much easier day of hiking than the previous two
