SAWTELLE RESORT A beautiful day began with a great morning of hiking. It was warm, dry, and beautiful. After lunch, things changed a bit. What changed was the trail; the lack of it. The plan was to take the shortcut to Mack’s Inn to resupply. I found the trail, which lasted about 5 steps. After that, I fought one of the nastiest bushwhacks of the trail. I had no choice but to thrash my way through. At one point I was on the wrong side of the valley, at an extreme angle trying to climb over fallen timbers. My feet…
