CUBA, NM
I missed an update, so I’ll catch up
A lot of hikers were in Cuba the last two days, and more on the way. The weather has been great here until tonight. Right now we are getting a good dose of rain, thunder, and lightning. I will be hitting the trail tomorrow, and the weather is supposed to be clear by then. There may be lots of mud, but I’ll just have to slog it out.
Cuba NM is a small but nice town. I have enjoyed staying at Mrs Yang’s del Prado hotel, meals at Charlie Biggs (bbq beef sandwich), El Brunos, and Cuba Cafe.
I am going to try to slow down because snow has been happening north of here. Next stop is Ghost Ranch, a Presbyterian retreat. Georgia O’Keefe used it for paintings, and hikers can camp there and enjoy the scenery. I think I will spend an extended time there
