HIGH COUNTRY ALPACA RANCH
Hit the trail before most hikers awoke at the Toaster House. It was all easy and flat road walk under threatening rain clouds. After about 15 miles I started to feel some pain on my lower right shin just above the ankle. Shin splints? Seth was nursing this in Pie Town; maybe its contagious? I did about 5 more miles as heavy rain made its way toward me. Out of nowhere a car pulled up and the driver asked if I wanted a ride. Sure! His name was Rich and he is a veteran on his way to provide car for another veteran that had a stroke. He got me to my destination at 2:00, saving me wetness and more strain on my shin.
The High Country Alpaca Ranch is great. The people are very friendly and I have my tent all setup. They even fed me burgers; HeHo! Hopefully rest will help my shin and get me on the road/trail tomorrow
