JAMES PEAK, CO
The morning was very nice and sunny, and I had a lot of climbing to do. When I got up to Devils Thumb I started a long ridge walk, which was challenging. A lot of it had boulders to contend with. Then it started to rain, so I had my DriDucks on the rest of the day. When I got to the base of the James Peak climb, I had about 3 hours of daylight to climb 1,500 feet and go about 4 miles to a camp spot. I decided to go for it since there was no lightning happening. I got to the peak in decent time and got down to a good camp and water spot.
Tomorrow I want to see if I can make big miles and get to Silverthorne in 2 days
