SAN PEDROS PEAKS

Very late in the night I heard what sounded like a coyote in distress. I recorded some of it on my phone

The only other attribute of the night was cold. At over 10k feet the sub freezing temperatures had a chilling effect. I kept my shoes in a plastic bag in my sleeping bag to avoid the Snow Lake episode

Coming down the peak today presented icy swamps, mud, snow, and lots of blown down trees. My feet were again soaked. Navigation was kinda tricky. When I completed my descent I had lunch in sunshine in a much warmer and dryer place

The rest of the hike was way better; dry and firm tread in the sunshine. I setup camp at the planned location, and Bones came by and pitched his. We are at about 7300 ft here and first thing tomorrow climbing over 8500. I would rather wake up warmer down here than colder up there. I might get to Ghost Ranch tomorrow night, the next day for sure
