North of GHOST RANCH, NM
I left Ghost Ranch with Dr John after breakfast. We had a big climb and encountered a fried; a rattlesnake. All three of us remained motionless for a while until it slithered off. I took a video of it.
We wandered along forest road and had a fortuitous wrong turn on 373 that cut some miles and got us back on the official CDT faster. We saw some wild turkeys and elk; I got some video of the elk
After 15 miles I came to my planned camp site and water source. Dr John went on because he needs to be in Chama sooner.
The weather was good and no sign of snow as far as we can see
