RAZOR CREEK, CO

Today was quite a contrast. The big barren mountains were replaced by gentle wooded slopes. The wicked winds were replaced by occasional gentle breezes. It was easy hiking in great weather.

Despite this I felt slow. My right shoulder blade is still a problem and my legs and feet just feel like they have accumulated a lot of heavy impact. I took a few breaks along the way

I made my 27 mile goal to a water spot as it was getting dark and clouds were moving in. There isn’t much water on this stretch so I really wanted to camp near a decent source. When I got to Razor Creek, it was completely bone dry. Heck! Fortunately I passed a tiny trickling stream just up the trail, so I was able to go back up and haul a few liters back.

I put the tent up because the skies look a little threatening. Hopefully I can get through tomorrow without needing my rain gear.
