At a recent visit to REI I happened to notice an outdoor survival class, so I signed up. This morning I showed up at Wild Basin and Jeff was the instructor. He’s a really good guy and the class was excellent. I happened to mention my pack weight dilemna to Jeff and he recommended coming by the store on Monday for a shakedown. I picked up my Dad from the airport. He is going to drive my sparkling clean Subaru to Michigan, where my sister will drive it on dirt roads and make car washes an exercise in futility. That’s…
