SUMMIT LAKE
I woke up very thirsty with no water and 35 degF temperature. Summit Lake is 9 miles away. All I can do is hike.
I crossed the Yellowstone boundary, then into Wyoming. Both are big milestones. I have never been to Yellowstone and very happy to see it. I have now completed 3 of 5 states, and about 1,800 out of 3,100 miles. HeHo!
My thirst was intense as I staggered forward, but I made it to Summit Lake at about noon and drank a lot, followed by a big lunch. I laid in my tent for a nap until the temperature reached 95 degF. I took a really nice swim and then dried out.
By dinner time, ScatMan, LateStart, and SecondChance had jumped into the campsite. A very pleasant end of the day after a harsh morning. I will be at Old Faithful tomorrow by lunch
