PAGOSA SPRINGS, CO
It was an easy day of hiking from Rock Lake down to Wolf Creek Pass. I can imagine how harrowing it would have been to try this in the snow and ice in the spring
There was trail magic at Wolf Creek Pass. A cooler with sodas and snacks was tucked behind some brush. Nice!
I got a ride from Seth who is a mountain biker and the tour manager for The Subdudes, as well as being in the band Big Medicine Gang. We had a good talk on the way in to Pagosa Springs
I got my box at the post office and went to Healing Waters Spa and Resort to get a shower and change clothes. They charged $14 for a shower and towel. The shower took about 5 minutes to get anywhere close to warm water. After I got in and got wet, the water pressure disappeared. I called the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy to escort me with a towel around my waist outside to another building with a shower. This one had a trickle of lukewarm water coming out of the shower head. When I got to the front desk to tell them it wasn’t worth $14, they gave me a coupon for a free shower next time. Gee, thanks!
I had a big Mexican lunch and went to the library to clean out my full email inbox. I then got to Riff Raff brewery, a long sought destination on the trail. My host Letitbe met me and we had a good time. Later we had dinner while watching my Steelers blow it against the Ravens
Tomorrow I will go to Chama for a party to celebrate Scout’s completion of the CDT. HeHo!
